On October 4, 2024, the Joint Symposium between the University of Bonn and Waseda University, which has been held annually for around20 years, was held at the Center for Advanced Biomedical Sciences (TWIns), Waseda University.

About 50 faculty members and students from both universities gave talks in the symposium, including 10 doctoral students from the University of Bonn who had been staying at Waseda University for about two weeks leading up to the event and carrying out their research activities. Following the opening address by Prof. Etsuro Ito, Director of TWIns, the Rector Professor Michael Hoch of the University of Bonn made a special address, offering words of encouragement, especially to students and young researchers. In the following academic sessions, the discussions were so lively and animated that they often went on longer than scheduled. The symposium was a great success and memorable event for all participants. It will further strengthen the relationship of between the two universities and lead to new joint research and activities by researchers from both universities in the future.
