Research Interests

Our interests are to facilitate effective hydrogen production and methane conversion to valuable products. Novel catalytic processes for hydrogen production and methane conversion are proposed in our group. We have two options for this purpose, one is utilization of electric field application to the catalyst bed, another is use of perovskite oxide having oxygen defects in it as a catalyst support. Former enables low temperature reactions thanks to non-Faradaic promotion of catalyst by protonics, and Grotthuss mechanism on catalyst surface proceeds by proton hopping on hydrated catalyst surface. Latter brings characteristic features including strong anchoring of supported metal on the support, and enables fine and robust distribution of supported metal even in redox conditions at high temperatures.
