Static and dynamic structures of softly condensed molecular assemblies are investigated mainly by optical measurements. Our current topics include 1) molecular rotors/motors driven by heart fluxes, mass currents or an electron beam irradiation, 2) structures and functions of pseudo-biomembranes, 3) dynamical properties of bubbles and thin films, 4) control of orientational fluctuations in liquid-crystalline Langmuir monolayers. We are especially interested in the spatio-temporal process how the molecular motions are amplified and transformed into macroscopic dynamics, which is one of the major characteristics of soft matter. ![]() |
