The Unit for Energy and Nanomaterials organized an alliance symposium with Jilin University, China, and Korea University, Korea.

Each university is highly ranked in QS World University Rankings by Subject; Korea University ranked in 43th in the Engineering-Chemical subject, and Jilin University in 100-150th in Chemistry. The unit collaborated with these universities and discussed topics about not only material sciences and electrochemistry, but also biochemistry and life sciences at the symposium to find a possibility for joint research.

The alliance symposium  originally started as the Korea-Waseda joint event by the project, the Global COE Program’s Practical Chemical Wisdom. The membership enlarged when Jilin University, which Korea University had been in collaboration with, joined. With the start of the Top Global University Project, the alliance developed into initiatives such as the doctoral student co-supervising program, the Joint Supervision Program, with Korea University which launched in  2016.
