Korea -Waseda Joint Supervision Program was Launched

The Unit for Energy and Nanomaterials has played a key role in establishing the Joint Supervision Program with Korea University’s College of Science in the end of July, 2016.  This is the second of its kind following the departmental agreement with Monash University in the middle of July.

The Joint Supervision Program is intended for doctoral students to take supervision from two supervisors at both the home and host institutions. The students in the program will spend some time at their host university for face-to-face research guidance, and supervision is carried out under mutual cooperation and consultation between the two supervisors. In addition, because this program was designed with the purpose of implementing a joint doctoral degree program in the future, the students are required to take courses with their supervisor at the host university. Upon program completion, a certificate will be granted under the name of both university presidents.

Waseda University has actively engaged in academic exchanges with Korea University at the undergraduate and graduate levels. With the start of this program, the Unit of Energy and Nanomaterials looks forward to further cooperation in education and research on material science and energy-related studies. Waseda University will accept the first batch of students from Korea University starting next spring.
